2008-W Uncirculated Gold Buffalo Coins

In 2008, the United States Mint introduced the 24 karat American Gold Buffalo coins with a new collectible uncirculated finish. These coins were struck on specially burnished blanks and carried the "W" mint mark.

The coins were issued in one ounce size as well as a range of fractional weights. This included 1/2 ounce, 1/4 ounce, and 1/10 ounce sizes. In addition, a 4 Coin set was offered including one coin for each denomination. Towards the end of 2008, the US Mint announced the discontinuation of this product line, making the "W" mint mark and fractional Gold Buffalo coins a one year issue.
